Rejoining our offering, this coffee is sourced from the Asman Gayo Mill in Sumatra's coffee-famous Aceh region. The mill serves to process both natural and washed coffee from several small coffee producers within the Pantan Musara villages.
These producers were dislocated from their homes and land because of a natural disaster several years ago, and they have rebuilt their lives and farms with a new focus on coffee.
Although it's not traceable to specific varieties, this lot likely includes the most common varieties grown in Sumatra: Ateng, Bor Bor, Catimor, and Timor hybrids. This mix of local varieties creates a unique, complex, and exciting flavour profile.
This year, we have purchased both washed and natural processed coffee from this mill. Pantan Musara Natural has a distinctive fruit character with melting mouthfeel, reminds you of ripe mango or cooked pear. A hint of spice note adds a balance as well as uniqueness to this coffee, resulting a funky, yet elegant cup.
